چکیده

The matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are one of the major families of proteinases that play key roles in the responses of cells to their microenvironment. Most notably the MMPs have the combined capacity to degrade all the components of the extracellular matrix. Besides modulating tissue structure to facilitate remodeling, cell migration, etc. MMP activities can result in the generation of epitopes that act as cell effectors or the release of sequestered growth factors. Proteolysis of adhesion molecules, growth factors, cytokines, chemokines and receptors have all been documented (Sternlicht and Werb, 2001) and the potential effects on cell behaviour are multifarious.

P 88: Matrix Metalloproteinases in Neuroinflammation

Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of neutral proteinases that are important in normal development, cellular differentiation or migration, angiogenesis, neurogenesis, wound repair, and a wide range of pathological processes such as oxidative stress and neuroinflammation. MMPs have been demonstrated to increase the permeability of the blood–brain barrier (BBB) by degrading the c...

Repression of Matrix Metalloproteinases and Cytokine Secretion in Glioblastoma by Targeting K+ Channel: An in Vitro Study

Introduction: Glioblastoma is an aggressive malignancy of human brain with poorly understood pathogenesis. Voltage-gated potassium (Kv) channels and Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are highly expressed in malignant tumors and involved in the progression and metastasis of glioblastoma. The purpose of this study was to determine whether a voltage-dependent potassium channel blocker could modulat...

Evaluation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMP)-2 and MMP-9 activity in serum and biochemical and hematological parameters in spontaneous canine cutaneous tumors before and after surgical treatment

Recently, matrix metalloproteinases (MMP), in particular the gelatinases MMP-2 and MMP-9, generally considered as tumor markers for clinical applications. A longitudinal 2-years follow-up survey was performed on dogs with cutaneous tumor. Serum samples were obtained from 22 dogs with different cutaneous tumors and 22 health dogs at the time of surgery and one month, three months and one year af...

Changing Roles of Matrix Metalloproteases and Their Inhibitors, TIMPs, During Tumor Progression and Angiogenesis

Inhibition of matrix-metalloproteinases (MMPs) by tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) has been shown in vivo to decrease metastasis and tumor-associated angiogenesis. Our laboratory is interested in understanding the role of these proteins at the pericellular microenvironment of tumor and endothelial cells. Secretion of MMPs by tumor cells enables the migration, invasion and metasta...

Downregulation of Matrix Metalloproteinases 2 and 9 is Involved in the Protective Effect of Trehalose on Spinal Cord Injury

Upregulation of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), in particular MMP-2 and MMP-9 contributes to secondary pathogenesis of spinal cord injury (SCI) via promoting inflammation. Recently, we reported that trehalose suppresses inflammatory responses following SCI. Therefore, we investigated the effect of trehalose on MMP-2 and MMP-9 expression in SCI. A weight-drop contusion SCI was induced in male ...
